Flash back. Fin du flash back.

Fin du flash back.

Flash Back, Vallée du Rhone, 1986.

Season 7 episode 3
Fire in the Hole

YOGA CLASS:

MAN: With each breath you take, you release the bonds of the past. For you are not your past. You are your now. And you are here in the now. The world around you disappears. You are a universe unto yourself, in tune only with yourself. Good, Sabrina. Very nice, Nadya. Rick? Should your eyes be on Alison's bum or should they be closed? There is no one else. There is no one in front of you, no one behind you, nobody to your left, and nobody to the right. Excellent, Noomi.

NAOMI: Namaste, Guru Dutta.

******* Opening credits *******

VILLA:

PAM: How long? Eric?

ERIC: Can you repeat the question?

PAM: How long have you been sick?

ERIC: Saw the first signs last month.

PAM: When you were in St. Petersburg. Don't act all surprised. I searched the whole fucking planet for you. Saint fucking Petersburg, Eric? You know how I hate the Russian people.

ERIC: Well, I didn't know you were gonna come looking for me.

PAM: Yeah, then why'd you keep on moving?

ERIC: Congratulations, Pam. You've outwitted me. But only because I'm not well.

PAM: Tara met the true death. I felt it last night when I was in Morocco. She was my progeny, Eric. You're not gonna say anything?

ERIC: Did you play the bucket game?

PAM: I did.

ERIC: Oh. I like the bucket game.

PAM: What is wrong with you? You are Eric fucking Northman. You don't give up. You fight.

ERIC: Fight's over, Pam.

PAM: This can't all be about Sylvie.

ERIC: Godric, Nora and, yes, Sylvie, too.

[FLASHBACK]

Eric flashes back about 30 years to being in France with a woman named Sylvie. (Speaking French).

SYLVIE: Qu’est ce que tu regardes ?

ERIC: Toi

SYLVIE: Pourquoi ?

They start making love.

NAN: Bravo, Mr. Northman.

ERIC: Who the fuck are you?

NAN: Chancellor Gainesborough said you were tall. Yet somehow I'm still impressed.

ERIC: You're Authority.

SYLVIE, speaking French:Qui est-ce ? Qu’est ce qu’elle veut ?

NAN: Is there someplace we can talk?

Inside the villa.

NAN: Failure to register with your local sheriff, failure to pay taxes to your local sheriff, failure…

PAM: I don't like you.

NAN: That's not fair, Miss De Beaufort. Were the circumstances of our meeting different, I think you and I could've been friends.

PAM: I can see it. What size shoe do you wear?

NAN: Could have been friends. Circumstances are what they are. You've been bad, boys and girls, and it is time to fall in line. Because we can't have it both ways. We're either living in hiding or we are out in the open. But we can't very well remain hidden when we are publicly biting, fucking, and sucking the vintner's daughter.

ERIC: Well, what can I say? It feels better in the moonlight.

NAN: Then get a room with a window and let the moon shine in. I take it you've both heard of the Yokonomo Corporation?

PAM: Japanese pharmaceuticals?

NAN: Correct. The Authority and Yokonomo Corp have joined forces in the development and bringing to market of a synthetic human blood substitute drink.

ERIC: Sounds delicious.

NAN: I've tasted it, and you would be correct. It's no Sylvie, but it gets the job done. With Tru Blood, mainstreaming is going to become a reality.

ERIC: And everyone lived bored and suicidally ever after.

NAN: Stop being cute. Many might appreciate your smile, but I can assure you, the Yokonomo Corporation will not. This is big business, big money, and they will not take no for an answer. Nor will the Authority. It is my job to make sure you understand this.

PAM: I understand. Eric?

NAN: Mr. Northman?

ERIC: Go fuck yourself.

NAN: Very well. I'll make sure all the interested parties are aware of your answer. (speaking in French). C’était un plaisir Sylvie.

Nan leaves the room.

SYLVIE: Chéri ?

ERIC: Ne t’inquiètes pas.

PAM: That woman was Authority, Eric, and you just told her to go fuck herself. We need to leave tonight.

ERIC:I like France. We're not leaving.

PAM: Jesus Christ. Bring her with if you have to, but let's go.

ERIC:Sylvie wants to finish university.

PAM: She wants to what?

ERIC:She's studying art history.

PAM: I am as big a fan of the French vagina as you are, Eric, but come back to Earth. She's just a human.

Eric stands up.

ERIC:We've been together how long now, Pam?

PAM: 81 years.

ERIC:In those 81 years, have I ever failed to protect you?

PAM: No.

ERIC:You're my progeny. You do not fall in line with Miss Flanagan or the Authority. You fall in line with me.

SOOKIE’S HOUSE:

Alcide walks through the house.

ALCIDE: Hey, Sook? I'm starving. What are you thinking for dinner? Hey, those steaks in the freezer, how long you think it'll take 'em to thaw? Sook? Hey? Shit.

Alcide follows Sookie’s scent to Bill's House.

BILL’S MANSION:

ALCIDE: God damn it, Sookie.

Alcide runs to the mansion.

ALCIDE: Bill! Bill! I know she came here! I can fuckin' smell her!

Alcide kicks the door down and goes inside.

BILL’S CAR:

SOOKIE: Werewolves are the best trackers on the planet.

BILL: I covered our tracks, Sookie. Alcide won't be finding us.

SOOKIE: Okay, good.

BILL: Is it too late for me to talk you out of this?

SOOKIE: How come you can't feel me anymore? I thought once I'd had your blood, it was forever.

BILL: At that camp where I fed all those vampires, I was completely drained, Sookie. Jessica and James may have saved my life by transfusing me, but the Bill Compton that I am today has nothing to do with the Bill Compton whose blood flows through your veins.

SOOKIE: So you're saying you get a clean slate, then? That you're not the same vampire who did all those horrible things to me?

BILL: No. I have to live with the memories of what I'd done to you forever. I can't acquit myself of any of it.

SOOKIE: Good.

BILL: If we're gonna go through with this plan, then you're gonna have to take my blood or I won't be able to help you.

Sookie takes Bill's blood.

SOOKIE: I have a boyfriend.

JAIL CELL:

Wade and Adilyn are sitting next each other.

WADE: Do you think Rocky's okay?

ADILYN: Yes, Wade, I do.

WADE: Do you think my mom's okay?

ADILYN: I really hope so.

WADE: Do you think we're gonna be okay?

ADILYN: Do you want to know a secret? You and me we made out once.

WADE: I would, I would remember something like that.

ADILYN: No, really. A vampire glamoured it outta you, but we did, I swear.

WADE: Really? We really made out?

ADILYN: Uh-huh.

WADE: This is the best news I've heard in a while.

They move in to kiss but Andy and Jessica arrive to get them out.

JESSICA: Adilyn!

ADILYN: Jessica!

ANDY: Daddy's coming, baby!

ADILYN: You guys came together?

JESSICA: Yeah.

ADILYN: Don't tell him that we were just about to…

JESSICA: Don't worry, I won't.

ADILYN: Okay.

ANDY: Who did this to you?

WADE: We tried to stop 'em, but they took all your guns, all your ammo, everything.

JESSICA: Who did?

ADILYN: I don't know, everyone. The whole town. Even Rocky was part of it.

WADE: Don't get him in trouble.

ANDY: Son, we're all in trouble.

JESSICA: Wait, who are they after?

ADILYN: They're after anyone and anything that's different than they are.

CHURCH:

Sam and Reverend Daniels are in the church, sitting in a bench.

SAM: Uh-huh. You take the simplest, most everyday thing you do. These people, these people were just sitting down for a frozen pizza dinner. What if that was the last thing you were ever gonna do? 'Cause life is supposed to add up to something, not be some half-eaten slice of pizza. And they got my fiancée, Reverend.

REVEREND DANIELS: I know they do, Sam.

SAM: They got my fiancée and my unborn child, and my life is just startin' to add up to something, and I can't

REVEREND DANIELS: Now you, you're gonna get 'em back. You're gonna meet that baby of yours, but you've got to have faith.

SAM: Reverend, they had Jesuses everywhere. They had Jesuses on the walls; they had Jesuses on the mantel in every single bedroom. They had faith. What good did it do 'em?

REVEREND DANIELS: What good would not having had it done them? I don't know.

SAM: I don't know. At least they wouldn't have been blind to the fact that death was coming.

REVEREND DANIELS: Now looky here, this ain't the kind of thing I say in front of a congregation, but since it's just you and me right now, death is a dark and blinding motherfucker, whether you see it coming or you don't. But a life spent in anticipation of it coming, Sam, well, that's not a life worth living.

Willa arrives.

WILLA: Reverend Daniels, I am so sorry to interrupt you, but she is freaking out again.

REVEREND DANIELS: What'd you do, Willa?

WILLA: I gave her more blood.

Lettie Mae arrives.

LETTIE MAE: Tara, where'd you go? Tell Mama where you at!

REVEREND DANIELS: Lettie Mae! Lettie Mae!

LETTIE MAE: You ain't Tara!

REVEREND DANIELS: I know, honey.

WILLA: She was hurt. I didn't know what else to do. I'm sorry.

REVEREND DANIELS: All right, Mr. Mayor, I'm sorry, but could I ask you all to leave? Please, please leave. Thank you. Okay, now calm down. Look at me. Listen to me. Now, what did we…

LETTIE MAE: Tara!

REVEREND DANIELS: No, no! Hold on. Shh.

LETTIE MAE: Tara, Tara.

REVEREND DANIELS: Lettie Mae, stay with me.

LETTIE MAE: Tara.

SAM’S CAR:

MATT: Well, that was awkward.

SAM: Yeah, it was.

MATT: The Reverend's got his hands full.

SAM: Matt?

MATT: Yes, Mr. Mayor?

SAM: You're awful dishy for a vampire, aren't you?

MATT: Just trying to make conversation.

Sam immediately stops when he sees Vince and his posse standing in the road. They leave the car.

SAM: Well, ain't this fucking perfect?

SAM: What are y'all doing out here?

VINCE: Taking our town back.

SAM: You are, huh?

MAN 1: Indeed.

SAM: Yeah. You told 'em?

WOMAN 1: Damn right he told us.

KENYA: I knew there was something off about you. Now I know what it is.

SAM: You're a cop, Kenya. I'm your mayor.

WOMAN 2: Translation you black, he's white.

KENYA: Oh, I got it, girl.

SAM: Hey, Rocky, you listen to me. You want to get your mom back, you come with me 'cause this ain't helpin' her.

ROCKY: Sure, it is. We got guns.

MAN 1: How much you wanna bet who's safer, huh? Our guns against your fag vampire.

MATT: Hey, who you…

Vince shots at Matt.

SAM: God damn it, Vince!

VINCE: No, Mayor Merlotte, God damn you. You tricked the fine men and women of Bon Temps into thinking they were voting for a human being when the truth is they were voting for the Devil.

WOMAN 3: You tell him, Mayor Gibson.

VINCE: The people have spoken. I'm the mayor now. And as mayor, I'm advising you to go on home, or better yet, leave Bon Temps for good.

SAM: Well, I'm sorry, y'all, but I belong here.

Sam shifts into an Owl and escapes.

JASON’S HOUSE:

JASON: You know, I've been thinking. If we ever make it through this, would you ever consider maybe having a baby with me?

VIOLET: Are you fucking kidding me?

I know you can't make babies, but we could adopt. I just feel, with everything going on a man ain't nothing without a family. What?

VIOLET: One town of dead people and you're gonna let it turn you into a girl?

JASON: Me, a girl?

VIOLET: In my day, when men marched to a village that was burned to the ground and bore witness to the charred remains of women and children that war leaves in its wake, do you think they gave it a second thought? They didn't. They didn't think anything. They didn't feel anything. Because back then, men were warriors.

JASON: Mm-hmm. Well, I hate to break it to you, Violet, but I'm a modern man. I think and I feel. And I'm still a badass motherfucker of a warrior.

VIOLET: You were when I met you. That day when they threw you into my cell, sure, you were a little broken. But I could tell right away that you were a man like they used to make them, who lived by a code. Who had a sense of honor and dignity and an iron-forged cock. That's the man I fell for. Fuck being modern.

Knock on door.

JESSICA: Jason?

ANDY: Stackhouse!

Violet opens the door.

VIOLET: Jason and I are in the middle of a fight, so fuck off.

ANDY: Stackhouse, we got a problem. Can we come in?

JASON: Yeah, come on in.

Everybody come into the house.

JASON: Hey, what's going on?

VIOLET: Not one step further, got that? This is my house.

ANDY: Vince and all his yahoos broke into the station, stole all our guns.

JASON: How'd they get past Kenya?

ANDY: Kenya's one of 'em.

JASON: Oh, shit.

ADILYN: Do you wanna tell him or should I?

JASON: Tell me what? What?

JESSICA: Adilyn's afraid that they might be after Sookie.

ANDY: Don't worry, Stackhouse. We ain't gonna let nothing happen to her. It all right if I let Adilyn and Wade hole up here till I can come back for 'em?

JASON: Yeah, sure.

ANDY: Do not go outside. Do not open the door for anyone. I'm not fucking around. She won't listen to me, but, Wade, you better.

VIOLET, to Jessica: I'll make you a deal. How about we call a truce until we find Sookie?

JESSICA: Okay, fine. But I didn't realize that we still had a problem.

VIOLET: It's "Pollyanna" shit like that that makes me hate you.

JASON: All right, y'all, let's do this.

ANDY: Fuckin' A.

LAFAYETTE’S HOUSE:

LAFAYETTE, dancing and singing: “You don't have to use it. Fuckin' is a thing that all of us release. You don't have to get it, all you do is let it.”

Knock on door.

LAFAYETTE, still dancing and singing: “Then you'll know exactly how to groove.”

Knock on door. Lafayette stops the music.

LAFAYETTE: Yeah? (He goes open the door). Get the fuck… (Humming, he looks through the window and opens the door). Hey.

JAMES: Hey.

LAFAYETTE: What's wrong, Sundown? Don't you like what I was cooking?

JAMES: Got any more of that weed?

They enter in the house.

LAFAYETTE: Nope, no more weed. Smoked me clean out last night. But I'll bust out the pharmacy if you wanna join.

JAMES: I wish I could, but vampires can't swallow pills.

LAFAYETTE: Well, damn.

JAMES: Immortality's not all it's cracked up to be.

LAFAYETTE: Hmm. Let me ask you something. Now, I know what I was escaping from, but what's on your mind that you want off?

JAMES: Just Jessica shit, I guess.

LAFAYETTE: Any particular kind of Jessica shit?

JAMES: There's a longer version of this conversation, but I'm not really in the mood. The shorter version goes something like, we live together, we sleep next to each other, occasionally we fuck, but I'm not so sure she even knows I'm there.

LAFAYETTE: Mm. Maybe she's the one who ain't there.

JAMES: Hmm, maybe.

LAFAYETTE: Maybe.

JAMES: But that's the longer version.

LAFAYETTE: 'Member what it was, the last pill you took?

JAMES: Tuinal.

LAFAYETTE: Tuinal?

JAMES: Mm-hmm.

LAFAYETTE: Mm. I never had the chance. How was it?

JAMES: Oh, it turns your body into an ocean.

LAFAYETTE: Ocean.

JAMES: And lets your consciousness ride that wave.

LAFAYETTE: Ooh, I'm gonna make me a Tuinal.

JAMES: You can't make a Tuinal.

LAFAYETTE: Sure, you can. Today's drugs are just like drugs back in your day. Except they've been deconstructed. They separate out the parts of the whole into pieces. Now they call them this, that, or whatever. And all I gotta do is take this, that, or whatever and put it together. And before you know it, you're gonna be riding that Tuinal wave just like you did back in your love child days.

JAMES: Like I said, I can't swallow pills anymore.

LAFAYETTE: I'll do the swallowing. Just give 'em 20 minutes to get to know each other in my bloodstream, then I'm gonna take you to the beach.

FANGTASIA:

VAMPIRE 1: How many more we got left down there?

VAMPIRE 2: Four.

VAMPIRE 1: Are you counting the pregnant lady as one or two?

VAMPIRE 3: Counting the baby, we've got five.

VAMPIRE 4: I'm shit at math. How many more days of food is that?

VAMPIRE 1: Two max, thanks to you. Look, we're just gonna have to go back out there again.

VAMPIRE 2: What? No, I can't. I don't have the energy.

VAMPIRE 1: You think I do? We ain't got no choice.

VAMPIRE 3: They've got vampires protecting them, they do.

VAMPIRE 1: And we know that now. We'll bring silver chains, stakes. It'll be all right.

VAMPIRE 4: I have to eat every hour on the hour. What happens if we go out there and we don't find anybody?

VAMPIRE 1: We'll bring one of them out there hunting with us, then.

VAMPIRE 3: What like trail mix?

Downstairs, Holly, Nicole, Arlene are prying.

HOLLY: Spirits who watch over us, family, friends, ancestors, guardians of the gate, we call thee forth.

With this rite, we evoke you. Spirits who watch over us…

JEROME: The fuck's this?

ARLENE: Oh, shit.

JEROME: Now, which one of you thinks she's Harry Potter? I said which one?

HOLLY: Me. It's me.

ARLENE: Holly, no.

HOLLY: I started it, it's okay, I'm okay.

JEROME: You in the mood to go hunting with us, Harry?

WOODS:

Bill is posted up in a tree near Sookie.

BILL: Alcide would be right, you know.

SOOKIE: What about?

BILL: This plan of yours. It's shaky at best.

SOOKIE: I'm all ears, if you got a better one. You know, this plan of mine is half yours. You gave me the idea.

BILL: I did no such thing.

SOOKIE: Sure, you did. The first time you took me to Fangtasia, in the car on the way there you called me "vampire bait." That's not something a girl forgets.

BILL: I didn't mean it literally.

SOOKIE: I know you didn't, but when we say stuff, we can't decide how people are gonna take it.

All I'm doing tonight is fulfilling my purpose. Let's just hope the bad guys take the bait.

If everything goes as planned and they take you to where they're holding the others, you want me to bring Alcide along when I come and find you?

SOOKIE: Hell, yeah, bring Alcide. Bring anybody who's willing to help. There's a whole lot of us that are gonna need rescuing. A, at least I hope there are, and the last thing I need is anybody else dying 'cause of me.

BILL: You love him?

SOOKIE: That would be none of your business, William Compton.

BILL: If we're to be friends, Sookie, we should be able to talk about things like this.

SOOKIE: He wants kids.

BILL: Ain't that what you want? When you and I were together, children was something…

SOOKIE: I do love him, Bill. I really do. But there's something deep down and I've never said this before, even to myself. I'm afraid that I don't love him as much as he loves me. And I know I should because Alcide is decent and handsome and grounded and he's good, you know? But when we tell each other "I love you" I can hear it in his voice and I can hear it in his thoughts. He means it more than I do. I know it, and it makes me feel so effin' rotten inside, I don't know how much longer I can take it.

BILL: Love isn't always equal, Sookie. Maybe you'll grow to love him more.

SOOKIE: Maybe. I'd take him lovin' me a little less just the same.

ANDY’S CAR:

Jason calls Sookie.

SOOKIE’S VOICE: “Hey, this is Sookie. I'm not in right now. Please leave a message.”

JASON: Yeah, beep fucking beep. Sook, it's me again. Listen, we went over to your house and the door was open and no one was home. Now I'm really starting to worry, so when you get this, would you please call me?

ANDY: We got trouble.

JESSICA: Isn't that Sam's truck?

JASON: Sook, I gotta go. Call me.

Everybody leave the car.Jessica and Violet bare their fangs as Vince's posse walks out from the bushes.

MAN 1: Over here.

JASON: Heads up.

VINCE: Evening, Sheriff. Deputy.

ANDY: Where's the mayor, y'all?

VINCE: He flew away.

MAN 1: Yeah. We saw it.

VINCE: What can do ya for?

JASON: Well, unless you can un-lock up the sheriff's daughter, and unless you can un-steal our guns, then you can do us for shit except for get the fuck outta our way or let us take target practice on you.

MAN 1: What did he say?

JASON: Which one's it gonna be?

KANYA: Your daughter struck me with lightning that shot out her hands.

ANDY: I know, I heard, and I'm very proud of her. Now, y'all gonna let us through or what?

MAN 1: What do you say, Vince?

VINCE: Hold your ground.

MAXINE FORTENBERRY: Enough of this shit. Stackhouse and Red are mine.

ANDY: Mrs. Fortenberry, I do not recommend that.

JASON: I grew up in your house.

MAXINE FORTENBERRY: Shut up, the both of you. You made Hoyt leave me. You drove him away from his mama.

JESSICA: It was a breakup. People break up.

MAXINE FORTENBERRY: Bullshit. You tore out his heart like he didn't even matter.

JESSICA: He mattered.

Maxine shoots Jessica in the shoulder. Violet then speeds in and rips out Maxine's heart. Terrfied Vince's group scatters into the woods.

ANDY: Rocky! You're gonna get yourself killed out there. Rocky!

VIOLET: You want me to go get him for you?

ANDY: Alive.

VIOLET: I know.

JESSICA: Ah!

Jason runs to Jessica who realizes she's in a lot more pain than usual.

JASON: Hey, how come you ain't healin'?

JESSICA: I don't know.

Violet catches up Rocky and leads him back to Andy and the group.

VIOLET: You're safe, shithead.

ROCKY: Safe? You're the fucking enemy.

VIOLET: Oh, yeah? You sure about that? Come on!

Elsewhere in the woods Holly is walking with the H-Vamps.

VAMPIRE 4: Food.

VAMPIRE 1, glamours Holly: Stay here. Say nothing.

He joins the couple sitting by a tree.

VAMPIRE 1: Troy, you and Mark take these two back to the others.

VAMPIRE 3: Will do, mate.

WOMAN: No, please.

VAMPIRE 3: Fuck off, lady. Shit happens.

H-Vamps snag the couple and take them back to Fangtasia.

LAFAYETTE’S HOUSE:

Lafayette and James lounge on the couch.

JAMES: Oh, you feel that bass?

LAFAYETTE: Yes, sir. Bass, man. Oh, you feel He's the Norco. Bass? Turn the stage, they playin' on into ocean.

JAMES: Oh, and the drums.

LAFAYETTE: That's the Ativan.

JAMES: Exactly.

LAFAYETTE: Listen to 'em now. Makin' the water all choppy.

JAMES: Here come the horns.

LAFAYETTE: The horns. Yes, sir, the horns. The horns is Molly, Molly gathering speed. Molly making waves.

JAMES: Fuck the past.

LAFAYETTE: Especially since you don't know if you've got a future. Everything. Everything behind us is fucking useless.

JAMES: Mm.

LAFAYETTE: Everything.

JAMES: Now is all that matters.

LAFAYETTE: Tuinal, bitch.

JAMES: Yeah.

LAFAYETTE: Tuinal.

WOODS:

Sam and Alcide run into each other and shift back.

SAM: Alcide, what are you doing out?

ALCIDE: Sookie's missing. I lost her scent at Bill's house.

Two men are hidden behind a bush.

MACK: Take the shot, you pussy.

MAN: I ain't no pussy. Gun's jammed.

Sam and Alcide shift back. Gunshot.

MACK: Shit!

Elsewhere in the wood.

SOOKIE: Where the hell are they?

BILL: If I didn't know better, I would say that you were looking forward to this.

SOOKIE: It's just them not taking the bait is a little insulting, is all. I thought I smelled special.

BILL: Oh, you do.

SOOKIE: Have you ever been to Six Flags?

BILL: I cannot say that I've had the pleasure. Didn't they close that down?

SOOKIE: Like, five or six years ago, I think it was. But my grandpa took me and Jason there once for my ninth birthday. Anyway, they had this ride, like a free-fall thing, you know, where they put you in this cage and then they push you out over this ledge hundreds of feet up in the sky.

BILL: You were nine? I mean, I'm immortal and that would scare me to death.

SOOKIE: The fall wasn't the worst part. It was the waiting. You knew they were gonna drop you, you just didn't know when. That's exactly what this feels like.

BILL: You should try going to war.

SOOKIE: Is this war, Bill?

BILL: Yeah. Yeah, I suppose it is.

[FLASHBACK]

Bill flashes back to his human life.

SARAH: I don't wanna do this.

CAROLINE: It's for your father, Sarah. So he has a picture to remember us by while he's away.

BILL: Come here. Are you frightened?

SARAH: Yes, Father.

BILL: What of, the camera?

SARAH: No.

BILL: Well, what, then?

SARAH: Do you have to go?

BILL: Darlin', we discussed this.

SARAH: Are you going to come home?

BILL: Yes, of course I am, darlin'.

SARAH: Then why do you need the photograph?

BILL: So I can look at you and your mother and your brother when I'm feeling lonesome for ya.

SARAH: It won't be the same.

BILL: No, it won't. But it'll be a lot better than not being able to see you at all.

SARAH: Next?

BILL: I have an idea. (To a man). May I ask your name?

JULIAN: Fortenberry, sir. Julian Fortenberry.

BILL: Mr. Fortenberry, might I ask whether you would photograph myself and my daughter first, and then we can do the rest of my family after?

JULIAN: Well, I have only so many tins, you see, and they're quite expensive.

BILL: Well, I will gladly pay the cost. Please, I beg you.

JULIAN: Well, I suppose there's no harm in it. Right this way, sir.

BILL: Thank you, sir.

JULIAN: If you'd just take your mark on that chair right there, please. Now, we'll need to be very still.

BILL: This one's for you to keep.

JULIAN: In three, two, one, freeze. Lovely. And now mother and baby.

CAROLINE: You would like me in that chair?

JULIAN: Right there would be wonderful, thank you, Mrs., uh…

CAROLINE: Compton.

JULIAN: You have a beautiful family, Mr. Compton.

BILL: Thank you, sir.

JULIAN: Now, very still. In three, two, one, freeze.

They then take the next photo. Suddenly Bill is snapped out of his flashback when he smells Sookie's blood. She is cutting her arm with her sharpened branch.

BILL: Sookie!

SOOKIE: I'm sick of waiting. Come on, y'all! I taste like sunshine and flowers and I'm right fuckin' here!

REVEREND DANIELS HOUSE:

WILLA: Is she asleep?

REVEREND DANIELS: Finally, yes.

WILLA: I'm so sorry about before.

REVEREND DANIELS: It ain't your fault, Willa.

WILLA: Do you really think she burned herself on purpose?

REVEREND DANIELS: When the good Lord made us, Willa, He gave us reflexes for a reason. Even water knows to jump off a griddle when it's hot. You hungry?

WILLA: I can wait until tomorrow.

REVEREND DANIELS: No, no, no, sweetheart. No, no. Go on, scoot over.

WILLA: Are you sure? You're a reverend.

REVEREND DANIELS, sitting: I'm sure.

WILLA: Ah.

REVEREND DANIELS: I moved to this town after the worst period of my life. My first wife and I had, we had lost our youngest daughter going on six months before, and it had, it destroyed us. My wife Tanya, well she strayed. And I, I lost all faith in God, people, in my marriage and in myself. Neighbors and congregates, they'd come by with casseroles or pies or just to check up on me. But you see, I would pretend I wasn't there. I'd have the curtains drawn and the television off. I'd be cowering in a corner trying to hold my breath for fear that someone would talk to me. I was low. And then one morning, I woke up, put on my collar, I got in the car, and I started driving. Had no idea where to until I pulled up to this boarded-up church. This church right next door. And on the front steps was this beautiful woman clutching onto a bottle of Captain Morgan, and she said, "You the reverend?" And I said, "I am a reverend." And she said, "I've been waiting on you." Now, folks in this town, they say I saved Lettie Mae Thornton, that without me, she wouldn't be alive. But what no one seems to understand is that that woman saved me every bit as much as I saved her. You done?

WILLA: Sorry.

REVEREND DANIELS: You have nothing to apologize for, so stop apologizing.

WILLA: Okay.

REVEREND DANIELS: You notice there's no liquor in this house.

WILLA: Yes.

REVEREND DANIELS: That's because my wife is a good person, a deeply good person. But she's got a disease. It's a disease that don't discriminate. It's like a rat. It'll eat whatever, booze, pills, gambling, sex or vampire blood. You're a nice girl, Willa. And I read about all what you've been through in that book there. And I am so very sorry for it. But to Lettie Mae, all you look like now is a bottle of Captain Morgan. I can't have you around here no more. She manipulated you once and she'll do it again.

WILLA: Okay, I understand. (She stands up). Who's gonna protect you?

REVEREND DANIELS: God will, darlin'. Just like He always has.

WILLA: Good luck.

Daniels stands up.

REVEREND DANIELS: Thank you, Willa Burrell, for everything you've done. But I rescind your invitation from this house.

LAFAYETTE’S HOUSE:

James wakes up and finds Lafayette unresponsive.

JAMES: Hey, man. Lafayette? Lafayette, come on. Lafayette, come on. Wake up, man. Lafayette, wake up.

LAFAYETTE: What the hell is your malfunction?

JAMES: I thought you OD'd on me.

LAFAYETTE: Never. I told you, I am a professional. Look at you. You worried about me? Am I growing on you?

JAMES: Oh, shut up.

LAFAYETTE: It's cute.

JAMES: Stop.

LAFAYETTE: It is.

JAMES: Let me fix your neck, and then I have to go.

LAFAYETTE: Okay, I'm stopping. Is you…

JAMES: What?

LAFAYETTE: Grooving on me?

JAMES: Look, I, um, I'm sorry.

LAFAYETTE: I must've misread you or something.

JAMES: No, you didn't misread anything. It's just you know, I'm with Jessica.

LAFAYETTE: All right. I gets it.

JAMES: Good night.

LAFAYETTE: Nighty-night, lover.

[FLASHBACK]

Pam is making love to a woman. A group of sword-wielding agents of the Japanese arrive and take Pam prisoner. They bring her in the garden where Eric and Sylvie are making love.

PAM: Eric?

ERIC: Jesus fucking Christ, Pam! Now what?

MAN: I wouldn't, Mr. Northman. You're more outnumbered than you are aware. What's your name, girl?

Speaking French.

SYLVIE: Sylvie.

MAN: Mm, Sylvie. So very pretty.

Two gang members grab Sylvie and Eric tries to fight but is then stopped when a sword is brought Pam's neck.

MAN: Mr. northman.

SYLVIE: Eric!

ERIC:Who sent you?

MAN: We are here at the Yokonomo Corporation's behest.

ERIC: Well, then, tell them I understand. They've made their point. I will be more careful in the future, I promise.

MAN: You have a choice to make, Mr. Northman. One of them has to die. You pick.

ERIC: No.

A sword is brought Pam's and Sylvie’s neck.

ERIC: Stop, stop!

SYLVIE: Eric!

ERIC: Okay, what do you want? Money? I got money. What are they paying you? I'll double it. I will triple it for you.

MAN: You're a wealthy man, but you are no corporation. Choose.

PAM: I'm so sorry, Eric.

ERIC: Me. Kill me.

MAN: The Authority wants you alive, I'm afraid.

ERIC: Pam. Pam lives.

The Japanese kill Sylvie in front of him. They then wrap Eric's neck with a silver chain and drag both him and Pam away.

VILLA:

PAM: Did you contract the virus on purpose?

ERIC: On purpose, no. But did I go about my dealings with a devil-may-care attitude? Absolutely.

PAM: You can't give up, Eric. With an ample blood supply, vampires are living longer and longer with this disease. And who knows, they're working on a cure. They could have one soon. Please. I will help keep you well until…

ERIC: Why?

PAM: Do you regret the choice you made that night?

ERIC: I made the only choice I could.

PAM: Then don't make me watch this. Don't make me watch…

ERIC: I released you some time ago…

PAM: …as you had to watch Godric, as you had to watch Nora.

ERIC: You're free to leave.

PAM: Do not do this to me. God damn you.

ERIC: For more than 1,000 years, the world has been my oyster.

PAM: And it still can be. I'll do anything.

ERIC: I've lost my taste for oysters, Pam.

PAM: No. You should go. Sarah Newlin.

ERIC: What about her?

PAM: What if I told you Jason Stackhouse let her live?

ERIC: He didn't.

PAM: He did. And she's out there.

ERIC: Where?

PAM: No one's seen her. I have to imagine she's in hiding somewhere.

ERIC, standing up: Well, let's go find her. Shall we?

YOGA GURU’S HOUSE:

The yoga guru and Sarah Newlin are making love.

GURU: Hold your breath with me, Noomi. We breathe together, we climax together.

SARAH: Namaste.

GURU: Oh, Noomi, Noomi, Noomi.

SARAH: Sanbir, Sanbir, Sanbir.

GURU: I have made it my life's work to steer lost souls onto the path. Not once did it occur to me that along would come a student who could so wholly and completely set me free.

SARAH: You make me whole and free, too, Guru. I walked into this institute five months ago a clueless Christian woman named Noomi who believed that life on Earth was just an audition to get into Heaven. I never knew that life on Earth could be Heaven.

GURU: There is no Heaven, Noomi. There is only the now. And now be a doll and go pick out a nice bottle of red from the cellar while I draw us an Ayurvedic foaming bath, will you?

SARAH: Yes, Guru.

Sarah gets up to get some wine. While she's gone the same Japanese agents who killed Sylvie arrive. The Guru stands up and a Japanese agent puts his arm under the Guru’s chin.

GURU: Ah! Ah! Who are you? What do you want?

MAN: Do you know this woman? Her name is Sarah Newlin. We have reason to believe she is here.

GURU: I cannot tell a lie. Yes, I know her.

MAN: Where is she?

GURU: This I will not tell you.

MAN: How very unhelpful of you.

Speaks Japanese. The japanese kill the guru while Sarah is hiding in the wine cellar. Flesh squelches.

MAN: Sarah Newlin!

WOODS:

BILL: Sookie, human.

Holly walks out towards Sookie. She runs over to Holly and hugs her.

SOOKIE: Oh, my God, Holly.

HOLLY: Hey there.

SOOKIE: Oh, my God. Where have you been?

HOLLY: I don't know.

BILL: Sookie!

Bill is tackled from the tree and the infected vampires jump out and attack. Bill fights off two of them but then is bested when he has a silver chain wrapped around his neck. Two more H-Vamps run out and grab Sookie.

VAMPIRE 4: We got the girl! Take him out!

Alcide and Sam run out in canine forms and save Bill. Andy, Jason and their team arrive to the rescue and kill the sick vampires holding Sookie.

SOOKIE: Fuck you!

Alcide shifts back to human. Sookie has blood all over her.

ANDY: That all of 'em?

JASON: I think so.

ALCIDE: What the fuck were you thinking, Sookie? Don't answer me. Do not fuckin' talk, all right? You swallow any blood?

SOOKIE: Mm-mm.

ALCIDE: What about your eyes? You get any in your eyes? Just shake your head yes or no. Fuck! Help me wash her off in the river.

VIOLET: I'm on it.

ALCIDE, to Bill: You. What the fuck were you thinking, huh? Tell me I ain't good enough to protect her and you are and this is what you come up with?

It was her idea, Alcide. I've known her long enough not to try and change her mind.

ALCIDE: Yeah, go on, tell me about Sookie like I don't know her. And I swear to God, I will fucking kill you.

Suddenly there are gunshots from the bushes and Alcide is hit. Sookie runs out the water.

SOOKIE: Alcide!

JASON: Andy, behind the tree.

Jason, Andy, and Jessica return fire and kill the two men behind the bushes, one of which is Lou from the slaughter house. Sookie screams and rushes to Alcide's side but is too late for he's shot in the head.

SOOKIE: Alcide! Alcide! Alcide! No, no, no!

JESSICA: Is he breathing? I could, or one of us could turn him for you, but we would have to do it…

SOOKIE: No.

JASON: You sure, Sook?

Sookie weeps over his body.

SOOKIE: I've been down that road before.

LOU: Ambulance.

ANDY: You pulled the trigger, Lou. I told you life wasn't gonna be the same.
